The Global Food+ Symposium brings together researchers in the Boston area to share recent work on all aspects of global agriculture, food systems and nutrition. Our goal is to spark new connections across fields and institutions, using speed talks with breaks and a reception to learn about the most important new work in this important domain. The 2025 Global Food+ symposium is the fifth such event, with archived videos from past events here:
  • First syposium, hosted by the Earth & Planetary Sciences Department at Harvard in 2015
  • Second syposium, hosted by the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs at Harvard in 2017
  • Third syposium, hosted by the Friedman School of Nutrition at Tufts in 2018
  • Fourth syposium, on zoom only during the pandemic in 2021
This year's organizing commitee consists of Megan Elias (BU Food Studies) Namrata Kala (MIT Sloan), William Masters (Tufts Nutrition), and Wolfram Schlenker (Harvard Kennedy). As with past events, we aim to attract faculty and others from all disciplines presenting on a wide range of food-related topics. All presentations are 7-minute speed talks to share headline results, so that meeting participants and online viewers can then follow up during and after the event.
If you would like to present your work, please upload a brief abstract (maximum one page) of your speed talk through our Submission portal by April 4, 2025. Successful speed talks can focus narrowly on a single finding, or describe a body of work, tailored to help experts in adjacent fields understand what you have done.
